Deck Building and Outdoor Living Spaces

Expand your outdoor living space with premium wooden or composite decks, custom railings and durable carpentry built to last. Coastal decks live outside in salt air year-round, so the structure underneath gets the same attention as the boards on top.

What's included

The frame is the part that has to last

Boards are what you see and the cheapest thing to replace. The framing, fixings and connections underneath are what decide whether the deck is safe in fifteen years.

New Deck Construction

Designed and built to your levels and layout, engineered for the span and the load.

Composite Decking

Low-maintenance boards that hold colour in coastal sun and will not splinter underfoot.

Timber Decking

Pressure-treated and hardwood options, detailed so the boards drain and dry properly.

Custom Railings

Timber, composite, cable and metal railing systems built to code heights and properly anchored.

Screened Porches

Enclosed outdoor rooms that extend the season and keep the insects out of it.

Deck Repair & Restoration

Failing boards, soft framing and loose connections replaced rather than covered over.

Stairs & Landings

Consistent risers, solid stringers and landings that stay level as the ground moves.

Hardware & Flashing

Stainless and coated fixings, plus ledger flashing done properly where the deck meets the house.

Salt air goes after the fixings first

A coastal deck fails from the metal outwards. Standard fasteners corrode in salt air, joist hangers lose their coating, and the ledger connection where the deck meets the house is the single most common point of serious failure.

We build for that from the start — stainless and coated hardware, properly flashed ledgers, and framing detailed so water drains away instead of sitting in the joints where rot starts.

Materials

Composite or timber, and what it actually costs you

The material decision is really a maintenance decision. Both work well on the coast if the framing underneath is right — they just ask different things of you afterwards.

Composite Highest upfront cost, effectively no maintenance. Holds colour and never needs sealing or sanding.
Pressure-Treated Pine Most affordable. Needs cleaning and resealing every couple of years to stay presentable.
Hardwood Dense, beautiful and durable. Sits mid-range on cost and wants oiling to keep its colour.
Framing & Hardware Where we do not economise. Coated framing and stainless fixings, whatever the boards cost.

FAQs

Deck building questions we get asked

A straightforward deck is usually one to two weeks. Multi-level builds, screened porches and anything needing significant groundwork run longer, and you get a programme with the quote.
If you would rather not maintain it, composite. If upfront cost matters more and you do not mind resealing every couple of years, pressure-treated timber does the job well.
Usually yes, depending on height, size and attachment to the house. We handle the application and coordinate the inspections.
Often, yes. If the framing and ledger are sound, replacing boards and railings is far cheaper than a rebuild. If the structure has gone, we will tell you plainly.
With coated framing and stainless fixings, fifteen to twenty years is realistic on the coast. The boards are the easy part to replace — the frame is what matters.
